Our Treehouse!

Homepage

This here page be about our ye olde treehouse. We built our treehouse aeons ago and it has been standing and slowly expanding ever since. It started off life as a haggard tree with a Nitromorse bottle sticking out of it. We made the first few platforms out of hardboard or branches nailed together with leaves woven between them to make a kind of seat. Then we found the nail gun! We had to lug Pete's great big compressor out and have it attached to that while we nailed the hell out of various branches. I remember working till 10pm Christmas Eve 2005 in freezing conditions with my halogen work lights as our source of light. Then one day we attacked it with huge square posts and planks. The treehouse started turning into what it is today.... a shed on stilts. We had our first deck, it was about 2.5 metres by 2.5 metres and was very sturdy. Then with the help of a very kind man, whom we dubbed pallet man, we built the first room out of pallets, this had a window and a seat. Then we extended it by putting planks out to the side of it, mainly so that we could maintain the side facing the hedge safely.
Then again we extended out the front this time and built another platform, then we put walls and a ceiling on it. Both side walls blew down in the wind the following night which was dissapointing but we did not loose heart. We rebuilt one of the walls properly.

Here is the treehouse to date.

I doubt if we will ever stop building the treehouse, eventually it will fill the whole of Pete's garden!
But if we do make any modifications I will let you know.
